Professional resume

Ms. Heide studied natural sciences with a focus on applied microbiology and biotechnology. After a research stay at the Research Center Jülich of the Helmholtz Association in the field of bacterial protein secretion including cloning and characterization of mutations, further scientific stations in development departments of Henkel KGaA and Bayer AG followed

She completed her interdisciplinary doctorate in the field of applied microbiology/biotechnology in cooperation with DECHEMA e.V., in which she applied extensive molecular biological and biochemical analysis. During her training as a patent attorney, she trained at the patent litigation chamber of the Düsseldorf Regional Court and worked at the German Patent and Trademark Office and the Federal Patent Court in Munich. She has been working in the field of intellectual property since 2009. She was admitted as a German Patent Attorney in 2012. This was followed by admission as a professional representative before the European Patent Office in 2014 and before the Unified Patent Court in 2023.

Honorary office:

Since 2015, Ms. Heide has been a lecturer for intellectual property rights for the medical faculty of the University Hospital Düsseldorf. In 2016, she joined the Biotechnology Committee of the German Chamber of Patent Attorneys as a member, of which she has been deputy chairwoman since 2020.

Legal focus

Patent grant, opposition and appeal proceedings before the European Patent Office (EPO), the German Patent and Trademark Office (GPTO) and the Federal Patent Court (FPC). Conducting, supporting and coordinating international examination proceedings. Legal opinions on infringement and freedom-to-operate (FTO), as well as due diligence. Patent infringement proceedings and patent nullity proceedings. Landscape analyses and competition analyses. Advice and support in contract negotiations, including non-disclosure agreements, cooperation/research agreements, license agreements and coexistence agreements under trademark law.

A particular focus of Ms. Heide's work is strategic IP portfolio advice based on product development/development and taking into account the business development plan.
